A chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the recently concluded local government elections in Kagarko LGA, Kaduna State, Ahmadu Yunusa Yusuf, has described the polls as a “charade.”
Speaking to reporters, Yusuf alleged that elections did not take place in any part of Kagarko LGA, contrary to the announcements made by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM).
“It is laughable that despite no election being conducted, the state electoral body went ahead to declare the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as winners across all 23 local government areas,” he said.

Yusuf criticized the results, stating that no single political party has ever swept all the local governments in Kaduna since the return to democracy.
According to him, the outcome undermines the integrity of both the state government and KAD-SIECOM.
“It is not only laughable but also condemnable and absolutely unacceptable for Governor Uba Sani and KAD-SIECOM to openly claim that APC won in all 23 LGAs,” he remarked.
Yusuf further called on the Federal Executive Council and the National Assembly to withhold local government allocations to the Kaduna State government, insisting that no legitimate election took place.
The PDP candidate claimed to possess both audio and video evidence proving that elections were not held in Kagarko LGA. “We have footage of people hired to thumbprint ballot papers from the comfort of their homes.
There’s also video evidence showing the governor being booed at his polling unit, only managing to cast his vote on the fourth attempt,” Yusuf alleged.
He appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly to intervene, warning that the integrity of the nation’s democracy is at stake.
However, Yusuf ruled out seeking redress at the election tribunal, stating, “There was no election in Kagarko, so there is no basis for legal action.”
