The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has initiated a reconciliation process aimed at uniting the party ahead of the 2026 governorship election in the state.
Party leaders from the state down to the ward levels convened at the State Party Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday for a meeting tagged ‘Unity Meeting’ to strategize and foster unity within the party.
Speaking at the event, Senator Biodun Olujimi urged party leaders to set aside their differences and work together to restore the party’s prominence.

She emphasized the need for forgiveness and innovative thinking to mobilize resources and revitalize the party.
“This is a shadow of what PDP used to be. We were united. We should forgive each other. We are all here for a purpose which is congress.
If we don’t leave that, it will be very hard to progress,” Senator Olujimi said.
The State Party Chairman, Engr. Alaba Agboola, disclosed that a reconciliation committee had been established to harmonize the various factions within the party.
Hon. Kehinde Odebunmi was appointed as the Chairman of the reconciliation committee, with Rt. Hon. Tunji Odeyemi serving as a member.
Agboola expressed optimism about the party’s future, stating, “It’s a welcome development because the problem we have been having in the party is that of leadership and how to unite the party because we are having so many factions in the party.”
He encouraged party members to embrace the reconciliation process and work towards the party’s success in the upcoming elections, stating, “My advice to the party members is that they should come together and let us work together.
Congress is coming very soon. Hopefully Congress is coming up in May and the reconciliation will help to unite the party for the coming election in 2026.”
