The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to politicians who obstruct ongoing government projects for personal gains, stating that such actions will not be tolerated.
Wike emphasized that his focus is on safeguarding the public interest and not catering to the personal interests of politicians.
He expressed his disappointment with a House of Representatives member who reportedly halted an ongoing project in the Guzape District of the FCT for reasons unrelated to the public good.

During an inspection of ongoing road projects at Guzape Lot 2, handled by Gilmour Construction, and Roads B6 and D12 along Constitution Avenue, managed by Julius Berger Construction, Wike condemned the lawmaker’s decision to stop the project without following due process.
“This is not a private project; it is a public project under the jurisdiction of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
Any grievances should be addressed to us rather than using the police to disrupt a legitimate construction project approved by the Federal Executive Council,” Wike stated.
The Minister directed the contractors to resume work immediately, disregarding any unauthorized stoppage.
He emphasized the importance of completing the projects on time, with an expected commissioning by President Muhammadu Buhari in May.
Wike’s firm stance underscores the commitment of the FCT Administration to prioritize public projects and ensure their timely completion for the benefit of the citizens.
