Barrister Tanko Beji has emerged chairman of the Niger State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Saturday Congress, held at the Party’s Secretariat in Minna, State capital, on Saturday.
The chairman, PDP Congress committee and Benue State Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu declared Bar. Tanko Beji as the winner of the contest.
Announcing the result of the congress election early morning of Sunday, Abounu revealed that a total of 2305 delegates /voters were accredited in the process, out of which Bar Tanko Beji, the incumbent PDP chairman, scored 2092, as his rival Engr. Ahmed Muktar got only 2 votes, just as 8 votes were null and void.
However, the committee chairman disclosed that the remaining 203 delegates did not cast their votes for any candidate.
“Such delegates were undecided as their ballots papers were never found in any of the ballot boxes,” he noted.
Engineer Benson then added, ” we thank God for a successful outing and also thank all the PDP stakeholders, as well as the delegates for their cooperation, patient, zeal and dedication despite the heavy downpours till the conclusion of the Congress.”
In his acceptance speech, the re-elected state Chairman, Bar. Tank Beji thanked God for the rancour free elections conducted by the party.
