A member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George, has criticised the court order stopping the party’s planned national convention.
InfoStride News reports that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Friday restrained the PDP from proceeding with its national convention slated for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan.
Reacting in a statement, George described the ruling as shocking and a dangerous precedent for Nigeria’s democratic stability.

He insisted that political parties must be allowed to manage their internal affairs without undue judicial interference, except in clear instances of constitutional violation.
“This judgment will consume this country. This is a threat to Nigeria’s democratic stability,” he said.
“It is time the judge removed his wig and gown and joined politics.”
The former Deputy National Chairman (South) urged the Chief Justice of Nigeria and the National Judicial Council to act swiftly, warning that such “unjustifiable intervention” could trigger disorder.
“Judges are not politicians. Their duty is to interpret the law, not to meddle in party administration,” he added.
