The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized the Ondo State Executive Council for passing a vote of confidence in Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, describing the move as “ridiculous and senseless.”
The main opposition party expressed its disapproval in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Kennedy Peretei.
According to the PDP, the action of the 33 cabinet members is not only absurd but also subjects the state to mockery. Peretei urged the executives to be more attentive to their responsibilities, particularly as the state faces challenges in the absence of the governor.

The statement highlighted the disarray in Ondo State politics and the perceived lack of leadership, stating, “Where the ship of the state is just floating on the high sea, no captain, no direction and about to hit a dangerous cliff any time soon.” The PDP also noted that the Akeredolu administration has been further undermined by internal disputes, as two State Commissioners dismissed the vote of confidence as ‘senseless’ and ‘of no effect.’
Kennedy Peretei questioned the legitimacy of the governor’s election, adding, “Now that the State Executive Committee has decided to come and dance in the marketplace naked, it is clear the days of this government are numbered.”
In response, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) dismissed the PDP’s criticisms as baseless. Steve Otaloro, the APC’s Director of Media Publicity, defended Governor Akeredolu’s achievements, asserting that the PDP’s attacks lacked substance. Otaloro stated that the State Executive Council’s resolution commended the governor for his commitment to good governance, integrity, and exemplary leadership.
