Political activist Deji Adeyanju has demanded the resignation of the Peoples Democratic Party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
Adeyanju argued that if the country were to avoid becoming a one-party state, those who were prepared to do the task of the opposition should be elected.
The public affairs analyst was responding to the announcement of Abdullahi Adamu’s and Iyiola Omisore’s resignations as National Chairman and National Secretary of the APC.

In a series of tweets, Adeyanju argued that, after the departure of several prominent figures from the APC’s leadership, the PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) should also be dismissed. If the PDP does not recruit new members who are willing to oppose the government, Nigeria will become a one-party state.
There were rumours about Adamu’s resignation over the weekend.
The new APC NWC announced his resignation at a Monday night closed-door meeting at the party’s Abuja headquarters.
Acting chairman Abubakar Kyari told reporters following the meeting that the NWC would run the party in accordance with the APC constitution.
Kyari also discussed the steps to be taken in order to fill the empty seat.
His take on leadership was that “everyone has their own style” and that the current NWC would follow the constitution in its operations. We will announce soon the procedures for filling the open seat.
After Abdullahi’s departure, Kyari became the new chairman of the party’s NWC.
