The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State has vehemently rejected the outcome of the rerun election held on Saturday in Tambuwal West Constituency, labeling it as “daylight robbery.”
In a statement issued by the party’s state spokesman, Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, on Sunday, the PDP congratulated the winners of the other two contested seats but expressed strong reservations about the Tambuwal West Constituency result.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Dahiru Bashir Ahmed, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Tambuwal West Constituency with 19,315 votes, defeating PDP’s Hantsi Sule Romo, who polled 19,021 votes.

However, the PDP alleged that the Tambuwal West result was marred by political daylight robbery orchestrated by some influential figures in the Sokoto State Government.
According to the PDP, these individuals reportedly seized the ballot box from one of the polling units, which had already been won by the PDP, and manipulated the results in favor of the APC candidate.
Despite its reservations about the Tambuwal West outcome, the PDP extended congratulations to the members-elect for Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency, Umar Yusuf Yabo, and Bodinga North State Constituency in the State Assembly, Abubakar Magaji, for their victories in their respective rerun elections.
The statement concluded by commending the party’s supporters across the constituencies and in all parts of Sokoto State for their unwavering efforts and dedication, despite alleged intimidation by agents of the Sokoto State Government who purportedly sought to rig the process in favor of APC candidates.
