The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun, Sunday Bisi, has advised members and party officials within the local government areas in the state to work for the success of the ongoing PDP ward congress in line with the objectives of the party.
In addition, the chairman reminded the party faithfuls that the congress is another opportunity to choose fresh hands who will lead the PDP in the various wards throughout the state.
Sunday Bisi further stated that the ward congress would provide a very solid foundation which is a non-negotiable goal that ought to be achieved.
In his words, “I am sure this fact is not lost on us.”
While calling on the ward congress committee members from the PDP national secretariat to be fair to all contestants in line with the rules and guidelines of the party, the chairman urged all aspirants vying for positions to be orderly and conduct themselves in a peaceful manner.
He also warned those seeking to use the ward congress as an avenue to foment trouble to to desist as such has never been part of workings of the PDP in the present arrangement.
“As a party, we warn against any act of violence as such has never been part of workings of our party within the present arrangement. Nothing must be done to bring our party to disrepute.
“Once again, I seek cooperation of leaders and teeming members of our party towards this exercise. The ultimate goal ahead of all of us is paramount and must guide our conducts.
“Your various degrees of sacrifice for our party within the length of your service have been so enormous and worthy of great appreciation.”
The Osun State chapter of the PDP has been enmeshed in leadership crisis since 2020 and lately, a Federal High Court has upheld the election of Soji Adagunodo as the chairman of the party in the state while the national secretariat of the party affirms that Sunday Bisi who was a former State Publicity Secretary still remained the chairman.
