In a recent statement, the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Falalu Bello, expressed strong reservations about the 2024 budget presented to the National Assembly by President Bola Tinubu, asserting that it perpetuates the impoverishment of the citizens.
Titled ‘The Appropriation Bill: Seeing Beyond Semantics,’ Bello’s statement urged Nigerians to temper their expectations regarding the budget.
He argued that despite the seemingly positive surface-level statistics and assumptions, a deeper examination revealed a lack of commitment to nation-building by the current administration.

Bello accused the government of being a relic of the past, safeguarding the interests of a select few oligarchs while lacking a viable path to a prosperous future for the nation.
He emphasized that this assessment aligns with the PRP’s earlier warning against reelecting the All Progressives Congress (APC) for an additional eight years.
The party’s leader scrutinized the sectoral allocation of funds in the 2024 budget, highlighting what he deemed as deceptive approaches to revenue generation and spending.
He lamented the absence of strategic thinking in addressing the nation’s challenges.
Concluding his critique, Bello described the 2024 budget as a mere cosmetic endeavor that glorifies mediocrity and perpetuates the continuous impoverishment of the populace.
He expressed hope that the upcoming Town Hall Meetings organized by the National Assembly would serve as a platform to address these concerns and provide a path towards a more promising future for Nigeria.
