MANCHESTER CITY are lining up an £80million double raid on Sporting Lisbon for Portugal stars William Carvalho and Gelson Martins.
Pep Guardiola is planning a major squad overhaul during the summer following his first-ever season in management without winning a trophy.
He has now set his sights on defensive midfielder Carvalho, 25, winger Martins, 22.
But the Portuguese giants will not let them leave on the cheap and it will take a huge chunk of Guardiola’s transfer kitty to get a deal done.
Sources in Lisbon claim City are prepared to offer £63m for the pair, but insist Sporting will demand they stump up a further £17m for their two prize assets.
Carvalho helped Portugal to Euro 2016 glory and has been capped 31 times by his country.
The Angola-born star is also a target for Arsenal, Liverpool and West Brom.
But Guardiola’s chances of landing the midfield powerhouse are stronger – as his brother Pere works as Carvalho’s agent.
Martins, who was born in Cape Verde, has been with Sporting since 2010 and is on the radar of City’s neighbours Manchester United and Real Madrid.
