Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has no issues with Pep Guardiola making plans for his Manchester City future, the FC Bayern Munich CEO has told Bild following the Catalan’s meeting with City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain.
Guardiola and Begiristian were spotted in Amsterdam on Monday, where they reportedly discussed their plans for the 2016-17 season, when the Catalan will be in charge at the Etihad after he leaves Bayern this summer.
The meeting, first reported by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, took place in a city-centre hotel, with representatives of Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan also in attendance.
But the meeting in Amsterdam is no problem for his current side Bayern, according to Rummenigge, as his future plans do not affect his current work for the Bavarians.
“Pep Guardiola still does an incredible job here every day. He’s as focused as on his first day. And it’s his business what he does on his free day,” Rummenigge said.
“It’s totally legitimate and OK if he starts working his future then. It would be naïve to assume that he will only begin after June 30. Thus, It’s no problem at all.”
