Peter Obi in Benue: Nobody Can Stop Anyone From Campaigning – Yesufu

Aisha Yesufu, a prominent supporter of Peter Obi, has said nobody has the right to prevent any politician from campaigning in any part of Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yesufu made the statement while reacting to the controversy surrounding Obi’s visit to Benue State as part of his political engagements ahead of the elections.

She maintained that every Nigerian has the constitutional right to move freely, associate with others and participate in political activities, provided such activities are conducted within the law.

Yesufu insisted that no individual or group should attempt to prevent a political candidate from visiting a state or seeking the support of voters.

She urged political actors and their supporters to embrace democratic principles and allow citizens to make their choices freely.

According to her, political competition should be based on ideas, policies and the ability of candidates to convince voters rather than intimidation or attempts to restrict campaign activities.

She also called on Nigerians to reject actions capable of undermining democratic participation and the credibility of the 2027 electoral process.

Yesufu stressed that voters should be allowed to hear from different candidates before making their decisions at the polls.

She maintained that Nigeria’s democracy would be strengthened when political parties and candidates are allowed to campaign freely across the country without interference.

Her remarks come amid increasing political activities and realignments as parties and politicians intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
