Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has stated that Peter Obi is “politically bigger” than former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Ahmad made this assertion in a post on X, where he compared the political influence of the two figures based on the 2023 presidential election results.
“Even though I have never been a Kwankwasiyya loyalist, I have always admired and respected Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso as one of the progressive political figures in this country.

However, I do not agree with his recent statement in Kano, where he claimed to be politically bigger than Peter Obi,” Ahmad wrote.
He pointed to the 2023 presidential election results, noting that Peter Obi garnered 6,101,533 votes and led in 11 states, reflecting broad national support.
In contrast, Kwankwaso secured 1,496,687 votes, leading only in his home state of Kano.
“These numbers clearly suggest that, at least in the context of the 2023 election, Peter Obi has significantly more political influence across the country,” Ahmad added. “So, Peter Obi is bigger than Rabiu Kwankwaso, politically.”
Ahmad’s remarks come amid ongoing discussions about the political trajectories of both leaders following the 2023 elections.
