The Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has scheduled its Elective Congress for Saturday, October 25, 2025, where new executives will be elected to steer the affairs of the party.
According to political observers, the move is aimed at avoiding the mistakes that cost the party dearly ahead of the 2023 general elections, when the All Progressives Congress (APC) capitalized on the PDP’s internal crisis and lack of a valid structure to claim all Assembly seats initially won by the opposition party, following a Court of Appeal ruling.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Chairperson of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee of the PDP, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the party announced that the congress will take place at the WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du, Jos South Local Government Area, beginning at 10:00 a.m. prompt.
“The Plateau State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party wishes to inform its teeming members, supporters, and the general public that arrangements have been concluded for the conduct of the Plateau State Elective Congress scheduled to hold on Saturday, 25th October 2025,” the statement read.
Ramnap disclosed that delegates from the 17 local government areas of the state, along with key stakeholders and party faithful, are expected to participate in the congress, which is “aimed at further strengthening the structures of the PDP and consolidating its unity and internal democracy.”
She appreciated members for their loyalty, commitment, and peaceful conduct, noting that the congress would serve as an opportunity for the party to reaffirm its collective resolve toward building a more vibrant and people-oriented PDP capable of driving development and good governance in Plateau State.
“All delegates and observers are advised to arrive early, conduct themselves peacefully, and adhere strictly to the party’s guidelines for the congress,” she added.
Ramnap reiterated the party’s commitment to its vision of restoring hope, deepening democracy, and delivering the dividends of good governance to all citizens.
