The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has revealed that President Buhari will present another letter asking the Senate to approve the request for a $29.9b loan.
The Senate, on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, voted against the approval request because it was not detailed, reports say.
Mohammed said this during a press briefing after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday, November 3, 2016.
The minister also explained that the Senate rejected the request which the Federal Government sent earlier, because it was not well detailed.
He said “It is not unusual for the government and the Senate to have some disagreements, they want more information.
“We will give them all the information they need and we are sure that by the time we finish they (lawmakers) will approve the request.”
Mohammed added that it is normal for the executive and legislature to disagree on certain issues from time to time.
Following the Senate’s rejection of the Federal Government’s request, the Senate Leader, Senator Ali Ndume said he regrets not marketing the proposal.
