The Niger State Police Command has apprehended eight suspects for various crimes, including conspiracy, motorcycle theft, receiving stolen property, and thuggery across different parts of the state.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the arrests followed intelligence-driven operations carried out by the police.
Abiodun revealed that on April 3, 2025, at about 2:30 p.m., operatives of the Crack Squad arrested two suspects — Mohammed Usman, 18, of Tunga, Minna, and Mohammed Abdullahi, 22, of Paiko — for conspiracy and theft of a motorcycle.

According to the police, the suspects conspired to rob a commercial motorcyclist on March 28. “Usman had hired the motorcyclist to a hotel near the Old City Gate in Tunga, tricked him into entering a room, and then locked him inside. He took off with the motorcycle and later delivered it to Abdullahi in Paiko for sale,” Abiodun stated.
The police spokesperson added that Abdullahi, who was already facing charges related to a gang assault at a mining site, was arrested and led officers to the mining location where Usman was apprehended while awaiting payment for the stolen motorcycle.
Two motorcycles were recovered from Abdullahi, who admitted they had been brought to him by Usman. One of the motorcycles was reportedly stolen from a mining site in Obajana, Kogi State.
In a separate operation, six suspects were arrested for thuggery during a sting operation in the Kwangila and Keteren-Gwari areas of Minna. The suspects were identified as Mohammad Yusuf, Mohammad Aliyu, Isah Abdullahi, Usman Mohammed, Jibrin Suleiman, and Ibrahim Mohammad.
All suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue. The police command reiterated its commitment to intensifying efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety in the state.
