The Police Command in Niger has commenced aggressive mop-up of criminals in the state with a view to providing safe atmosphere during the forth-coming Christmas and New Year festivities.
Mr Zubairu Muazu, Commissioner of Police in Niger disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Monday.
He said that various forms of security measures have been put in place to guarantee safety of lives and property of the people.
He explained that the command would intensify its community policing to enable it gather intelligence reports towards apprehending criminals.
He said that already Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers have been briefed on how to strengthen security situations in their irrespective areas of jurisdictions.
The commissioner solicited the support of stakeholders to sensitise residents on the need to come forward with information about suspected miscreants in their midst.
