The Jigawa State Police Command has dismissed a viral video claiming that armed bandits were seen moving through Dutse metropolis on motorcycles.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the police described the report as false, misleading, and intended to cause public fear.
The video alleged that on 28 October 2025, around 12:47am, several armed men riding Boxer motorcycles were sighted speeding through the state capital.

However, the Command clarified that a thorough investigation revealed the individuals in the video to be members of the Peace and Security Service Organisation (Hunters) from Bauchi State, who were equipped with traditional security tools including dane guns, bows, and arrows.
They were reportedly returning from a meeting at Chai-Chai Sabuwa in Ringim Local Government Area at the time the footage was captured.
The police urged residents to disregard the video, warning that such misinformation could cause unnecessary panic.
The Command assured the public of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property and appealed to residents to remain calm and go about their activities without fear.
It also encouraged citizens to support security agencies with credible information and report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
