The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a native doctor, from Umuopu Umueze in Igboeze North Local Government Area, for allegedly conniving with kidnappers in the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ebere Amarizu on Friday in Enugu.
The statement accused the native doctor of providing charms to the hoodlums whenever they wanted to carry out their nefarious activities.
It said that the native doctor’s arrest followed confessions by some suspected kidnappers arrested in the state recently.
“The group had confessed to the fact that they pay him N50, 000 (fifty thousand naira) or more as the case maybe.
“The native doctor is currently helping the police operatives with further information about his alleged role in the kidnapping of a white man.”
The statement further said those arrested were believed to have abducted one Madam Adiza Ogbo who was discovered dead in a shallow grave.
“It would be recalled that late Madam Adiza Ogbo was recently abducted and a ransom was demanded by her abductors before she allegedly died in their net.
“This prompted them to bury her in a shallow grave inside the compound where she was kept,” the statement added. (NAN)
