Arua Goodluck Egwu, the 2023 Young Progressives Party (YPP) House of Assembly candidate for Ohafia South constituency in Abia State, has defected to the ruling Labour Party (LP) in the state.
His defection comes on the heels of another high-profile switch, as former Abia State House of Assembly member Jerry Uzosike recently left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the LP after a meeting with Governor Alex Otti.
In a resignation letter addressed to the YPP Chairman of Ebem Ward in Ohafia local government area of Abia State and issued to newsmen on Tuesday, Mr. Egwu cited wide consultations with critical political stakeholders and hundreds of his supporters across five local electoral wards in Ohafia South State Constituency as the basis for his decision.
He expressed gratitude to the YPP for the opportunities to serve the state and highlighted the accomplishments achieved together with the party.
Egwu’s move underscores the evolving political landscape in Abia State, as key figures realign themselves ahead of future political engagements.
