Port Harcourt Serial Killer, David-West Sentenced to Death by Hanging

A serial killer, Gracious David-West, has been convicted and sentenced by a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt to death by hanging.

Mr. David-West was charged with the murder of several young ladies in various hotels across the state of Rivers.

Bits of evidence show that David-West had a signature to kill his victims by strangling them.The 40-years-old was arraigned on a ten-count charge of murder and attempted murder.

Justice Adolphus Enebeli, who was the Trial Judge based his decision on the culprit’s voluntary declaration and confession, as well as the convict’s CCTV footage tendered and shown throughout the trial.

According to the Judge, all the proof and declaration collected passes for credible evidence that Mr. David-West is guilty of the crime that took place between July 30 and September 2019.

Nimi Thank-God, a second defendant suspected of dumping the body of one of the victims killed in a dustbin, was also discharged and acquitted by the judge.

The defense counsel failed to prove their argument that the accused actually committed the crime, Justice Enebeli said.

Vincent Chukwu said his client would try the judgment at the higher court, addressing newsmen outside the courthouse, counsel for the accused.

Chidi Eke, the state prosecutor who accepted the judgment, said that this would be a disincentive for all those involved in such an act.

The second defendant in the matter, Nimi Thank-God ‘s lawyer, expressed satisfaction over the judgment that exonerated his client.
