On Friday, Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, named the people responsible for Kanu’s extended imprisonment.
According to Ejimakor, it is not the Supreme Court but the Presidency that has the agitator in custody.
This was revealed while he was emphasizing that the Federal Government’s release of Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho rendered it impossible to maintain Kanu’s detention.

Ejimakor said in an X post that Igboho’s release was arranged by Yoruba elders.
With the release of SUNDAY IGBOHO, with the support of Yoruba leaders and Tinubu (@officialABAT), Ejimakor writes, “the continuing imprisonment of MAZI NNAMDI KANU has become more unsustainable.” Sure enough, it’s the Presidency, not the Supreme Court, that’s keeping #MNK hostage.
After spending two years in a Beniese prison for evading justice in Nigeria, Igboho was just granted his freedom.
Kanu was also detained about the same time as Igboho in Kenya and subjected to extraordinary rendition.
Since returning to Nigeria, Kanu has been held by the DSS while he awaits the outcome of his trial.
