President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Bassirou Faye on his election as the President of the Republic of Senegal.
Tinubu’s congratulatory message was conveyed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Ajuri Ngelale, a presidential Spokesperson.
President Tinubu acknowledged President-elect Faye’s great promise and sterling record, wishing him success as he assumes the critical role of leading Senegal.
The President also commended President Macky Sall for overseeing an election that was widely deemed peaceful and transparent.
President Tinubu remarked that the successful presidential election in Senegal, along with the recent conduct of the general election in Liberia, reaffirmed his belief that democracy is deeply rooted in West Africa and will continue to flourish through good governance, justice, and fairness to all.
In his capacity as the Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), President Tinubu stated that the Senegal election’s success bolstered the sub-regional organization’s efforts to promote peace, uphold constitutional order, and strengthen ties among member states.
President Tinubu assured the people of Senegal of Nigeria’s continued support and best wishes.
It is recalled that Faye emerged victorious in Sunday’s presidential election, defeating Senegal’s ruling coalition candidate, Amadou Ba.
