President Muhammadu Buhari won’t interfere in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) case against All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Jafaru Isa.
Isa, who is one of Buhari’s political associates, was arrested by the EFCC on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, on allegations of corruption.
“It is true that Isa has been with Buhari from the days of the ANPP and CPC and was equally a member of the Transition Committee and actually headed the Defence Committee,” a presidential aide, who chose to remain anonymous, told Vanguard.
“That does not mean that Buhari knows anything about the N100 million said to have been collected by the man from the ONSA,” the source added.
Isa is alleged to have accepted a “gift’”of $5 million dollars from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki supposedly to secure his support for the 2015 general elections.
Dasuki is at the center of the massive money laundering investigation and is alleged to have supervised the looting of the funds which were meant for the procurement of arms for Nigeria’s military.
He was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on December 1, 2015 and handed over to the EFCC the day after.
