The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced the impending appointment of nine Permanent Secretaries for the nine Secretariats of the FCT Administration.
This move, according to Wike, is in line with the provisions of the FCT Civil Service Commission Act, 2018, which President Bola Tinubu has approved for implementation.
Speaking in Abuja on Monday after inspecting some road projects, Wike stated that the President’s decision aligns with his ‘Renewed Hope Agenda.’
The most senior directors in the FCTA will be appointed as permanent secretaries for the secretariats, including those for Agriculture, Transport and Economic Planning, Revenue Generation and Public Private Partnership, Education, Social Development, Legal Services, Area Council, Health and Environment, and Women Affairs.
Wike emphasized the importance of commitment and dedication to duty among the senior directors.
He expressed displeasure over delays in file movement and warned against any actions that could sabotage the administration’s efforts.
“President Tinubu in his wisdom and Renewed Hope Agenda, insisted that the 2018 Act must be implemented, which has given the FCT a Civil Service Commission.
By this, the FCTA will have its own Head of Service, and then of course, it will have permanent secretaries for the nine secretariats,” Wike stated.
He further added, “But again, that means that we will require a lot of commitments from them.” Wike emphasized that no file should stay in a director’s office for more than three to four days to ensure the smooth operation of the administration.
