President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended Halima Shehu, the national coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), following allegations of financial misappropriation.
The suspension comes just two months after Shehu was confirmed by the Senate as the national coordinator of NSIPA. Dr. Akindele Egbuwalo, the National N-POWER Program Manager, has been appointed as the acting National Coordinator/CEO pending the conclusion of the investigation into the allegations.
This development marks a significant change in leadership within the NSIPA, with Shehu’s suspension raising questions about the future direction of the agency.

It is unclear how long the investigation will take and what impact it will have on the ongoing programs and initiatives under the NSIPA.
President Tinubu had previously approved Shehu’s appointment on October 12, 2023, but the recent allegations have led to her suspension and the appointment of an acting replacement.
