The Northern Cross River Reconciliation Movement (NCRRM), a pressure group, has demanded accountability from Alphonsus Eba, the chairman of the ruling party in Cross River State, regarding donations received during the last general elections.
The NCRRM insisted that Eba should provide a detailed account of all donations received from key funders of the elections. Failure to do so, they stated, should result in his resignation from the position.
The group highlighted the party’s recent defeats in various elections, including the governorship, presidential, National Assembly, and rerun elections, as reasons for their demand.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Mr. Bernard Injuo, the NCRRM also called for Eba to apologize for allegedly mismanaging party funds and leading the party to defeat in the elections.
The group claimed that APC aspirants had made significant donations to the party, totaling N200 million, in addition to donations from other individuals.
They criticized Eba for not providing an account of these funds or an evaluation of the election outcome.
In response, Eba defended his leadership, stating that the party’s financial transactions, including expenses during the elections, are intact.
The party, in a statement signed by Emmanuel Edem Inyang JP, acting publicity secretary, dismissed calls for Eba’s resignation, describing them as “laughable, childish, and foolish.”
The party accused critics of Eba’s leadership of engaging in anti-party activities and attempting to deflect attention from critical issues within the party.
They affirmed their support for Eba, stating that he will not resign until his tenure expires in 2026.
