The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded an immediate investigation into the activities of the Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State over allegations of political interference and actions capable of undermining democratic participation.
The party made the demand while reacting to concerns surrounding the conduct of the police commissioner and the alleged use of security personnel to intimidate opposition members in the state.

The PDP called on the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to urgently examine the allegations and determine whether the commissioner had acted within the limits of his constitutional responsibilities.
The party warned that the police must remain neutral and professional, particularly as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It stressed that security agencies should protect all citizens and political parties equally rather than become instruments for suppressing opposition voices.
The PDP further urged the police authorities to ensure that officers deployed for political and public engagements operate in accordance with the law and respect the rights of citizens.
According to the party, any security official found to have abused his office or acted in favour of a political interest should face appropriate disciplinary and legal consequences.
The demand comes amid growing tension among political parties in Ebonyi State, with opposition groups raising concerns over the conduct of security personnel and the space available for political activities.
The PDP maintained that the credibility of the 2027 elections would depend not only on the conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission but also on the neutrality of security agencies before, during and after the polls.
It therefore urged the Inspector-General of Police to act swiftly on the allegations, warning that failure to investigate could deepen public distrust and further damage confidence in the police ahead of the elections.
