In light of the recent coup in the Niger Republic, the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has asked President Bola Tinubu and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) not to go to war with Niger Republic.
Alhaji Falalu Bello, the party’s national chairman, issued a statement on Sunday outlining the party’s stance in Abuja.
PRP stated that it has faith that Nigeria and the ECOWAS will peacefully resolve the matter at stake through engagement with the Niger Republic.

The party believes that going to war is “not in the interests of Nigeria, Niger, and ECOWAS,” as stated in the statement.
PRP warned that conflict might destabilize Africa by causing bloodshed and instability in neighboring countries in the West African sub-region.
A breakdown in the longstanding ties between Niger and Nigeria, the party said, would be unfortunate.
This economic interdependence would be disrupted and both countries would suffer as a result of a war.
“The PRP strongly urges President Tinubu, as the present ECOWAS Chairman, to painstakingly pursue dialogue and diplomacy in resolving the imbroglio in the Republic of Niger,” the statement stated.
The statement went on to call for Tinubu to prioritize fighting issues like poverty, insecurity, and unemployment that are plaguing Nigerians. (NAN)
