Qumu’s new integration with Microsoft Lync enables users to benefit from video through Microsoft Lync like never before
May 7, 2014 – Qumu (NASDAQ: QUMU), the leading business video platform provider, today announced the availability of the Qumu Lync Client integration with Microsoft Lync.
The Qumu Lync Client builds on Qumu’s award-winning Video Control Center platform to deliver a seamless, integrated enterprise video solution within Lync that enables all employees to benefit from the power of unified video communications through Qumu’s Video Control Center.
Building on the native video capabilities of Microsoft Lync, the Qumu Lync Client enables Lync users to automatically publish and share the valuable information from a recorded Lync session and, through Qumu’s Video Control Center, manage, organize and distribute that information throughout the enterprise.
When you record a Lync Meeting, you capture audio, video, instant messaging, screen sharing, PowerPoint slides, whiteboard, and polling. Any of the presenters can record a meeting and save it on their computers. With the new Qumu Lync Client, the presenters can also upload and share the recorded session instantly. And, since Qumu seamlessly integrates with Microsoft SharePoint, sessions can be instantly posted to SharePoint as well.
The fully-integrated Qumu Lync Client simplifies the process of recording Lync sessions and, once the recording is complete, provides a simple way for users to ingest that content into the Video Control Center. Users are able to define a wide variety of metadata options on their recording to specify things like title, channel, keywords, tags, author, description and more. The Qumu Lync Client also lets users edit recorded content as a part of the ingest workflow, to give them a greater degree of control out of their content from Lync sessions.
“Unified communications clients and platforms traditionally lacked the ability to scale to large virtual audiences for support of use cases such as capturing and delivering webinars and webcasts. Integration with video content management solutions enables unified communications platforms to extend reach from internal to external constituents,” said David Mario Smith, Lead Analyst at Aragon Research.
“At Qumu, we’re invested in streamlining access to enterprise video wherever it can be found in an organization,” says Vern Hanzlik, Qumu’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Qumu. “That’s why we worked to develop this integration with Microsoft Lync, to give employees new tools to connect, share and innovate with video in the enterprise.”
