Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has expressed strong confidence in the party’s prospects for the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso, who was the NNPP’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, made these remarks during the inauguration of the NNPP Secretariat along IBB Way in Katsina on Saturday.
His visit to Katsina also included a condolence call to the Yar’Adua family following the passing of their matriarch, Hajiya Dada.
Addressing party members and supporters, the former Kano State Governor articulated a clear vision for the NNPP’s future, asserting that the party was poised to not only contest but win the presidency, governorships, and various other political positions nationwide in the 2027 elections.
Kwankwaso emphasised that the NNPP was on a trajectory towards success, driven by a robust strategy and growing popular support.
Kwankwaso took the opportunity to criticise the current state of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring it effectively defunct.
“I wish to remind you that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is already dead, because we were in the party, since they have gone out of the line, we decided to check out,” he stated.
Kwankwaso’s remarks reflect his belief that the PDP has lost its way, and that the NNPP is better positioned to address the needs of Nigerians.
The NNPP leader urged Nigerians, particularly women and youths, to remain vigilant against electoral manipulation and not to be swayed by temporary incentives such as money or gifts, which he described metaphorically as being ‘deceived with spaghetti or money.’
He encouraged voters to prioritise the long-term welfare of the nation over short-term personal gains, emphasising the importance of making informed decisions at the ballot box.
Kwankwaso also called on the party’s leadership to intensify their efforts in preparing for the upcoming elections.
He urged them to maintain a high level of commitment and to continue working diligently towards the NNPP’s success at both the state and national levels.
In his speech, Kwankwaso lauded the efforts of party stakeholders in Katsina for their commitment, particularly in renovating the state secretariat, which he viewed as a significant step in the party’s preparation for future victories.
In his remarks, the NNPP’s Katsina State Chairman, Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir, highlighted the party’s ongoing initiatives to educate the electorate about the party’s new logo, which symbolises its commitment to accessible education for all.
Abdulkadir emphasised that the logo represents one of the core values of the Kwankwasiyya movement, which prioritises education as a key driver of social and economic development.
“There is the need for the party to embark on grassroots sensitisation to inform the members on the importance of the new logo,” Abdulkadir stated.
He stressed that educating party members and the broader electorate about the NNPP’s values and symbols was crucial for the party’s growth and success.
Abdulkadir also underscored the importance of grassroots mobilisation, recognising that a well-informed electorate is essential to achieving the NNPP’s goals.
Kwankwaso’s speech in Katsina reflects a broader strategy by the NNPP to position itself as a viable alternative to the established political parties in Nigeria.
By focusing on education, youth empowerment, and grassroots engagement, the NNPP aims to distinguish itself as a party that prioritises the needs and aspirations of ordinary Nigerians.
The emphasis on a new logo and ongoing public enlightenment campaigns are part of a larger effort to build a distinct and recognisable brand for the party, one that resonates with the electorate and reflects the values of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
As the NNPP looks towards the 2027 elections, it faces the challenge of building on its current momentum and translating its ambitions into electoral success.
The party’s ability to galvanise support across Nigeria’s diverse regions will be crucial to its success.
By appealing to voters disillusioned with the existing political options, Kwankwaso and the NNPP hope to carve out a significant space in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The NNPP’s focus on education and empowerment, particularly for marginalised groups such as women and youth, positions it as a forward-thinking party with a clear vision for Nigeria’s future.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the NNPP’s commitment to inclusivity and grassroots engagement will be key factors in its quest to redefine Nigeria’s political dynamics and achieve its ambitious goals in 2027.
