Tragedy struck on Monday evening in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, as a 30-minute rainstorm claimed the life of a Taekwondo coach, Musa Ismail, at the premises of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority.
The rainstorm, which occurred between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., reportedly caused extensive damage to the Badminton court located within the Authority’s facility.
Eyewitnesses said a section of the structure collapsed during the storm, falling directly on the late coach.

Musa Ismail, a respected Ilorin-born Taekwondo coach, was said to have been training with friends at the facility when the incident occurred.
Sources confirmed that he was a regular user of the court, which has now been sealed off following the incident.
A visit to the facility on Tuesday revealed that the damaged section of the court remains visibly collapsed, with staff members of the agency declining to comment on the situation.
Efforts to contact the Public Relations Officer and the Managing Director of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority were unsuccessful as of press time.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves across the Ilorin sports community, with colleagues and residents mourning the sudden loss of Coach Ismail, described as a passionate sportsman and mentor.
