Manchester United will not consider any loan enquiries from West Ham United for either Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial, sources close to the Old Trafford club have said.
West Ham are actively looking to bring in a new striker during the January transfer window and they have put Rashford and Martial on their list, according to the Daily Telegraph, after seeing the pair lose their spots in Jose Mourinho’s starting line-up.
The Hammers have struggled for goals this season and currently find themselves in 13th spot in the Premier League table.
As revealed by us in November, West Ham are trying to cut short the loan deal of Simone Zaza to allow them to bring in a new striker in January.
Zaza has struggled since his summer arrival from Juventus and talks are ongoing about ending his spell at the club early, something that would enable West Ham to bring in a new forward in January.
England international Rashford and France international Martial have emerged as ambitious targets for West Ham, but any interest is likely to be rejected at Old Trafford.
Rashford has not started for United since the 1-1 draw with West Ham last month, but sources have said that coaching staff at the club are happy to take the teenager out of the firing line to give him a much-needed rest after a meteoric rise over the last nine months.
Martial, meanwhile, has been unable to hold down a regular spot in Mourinho’s side this season with Zlatan Ibrahmovic the No.1 striker at United.
Despite losing their places in the starting XI, Mourinho does not want any of his forwards to depart ahead of a crucial period with several games in the Premier League over the Christmas period and then the defence of United’s FA Cup success due to get underway in January.
