The Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Campaign Council in Imo State has urged residents to reject Operation Show Your PVC for Palliative, claiming that it is a plot by Imo Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to forcibly seize citizens’ Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
On Wednesday, Ikenna Onuoha, Director, Media and Publicity for the opposition party’s Sam-Jones-backed governorship campaign in Imo State, issued the following statement to the press.
PDP, while asking residents of Imo to stay vigilant, has claimed that Uzodinma is fighting to gain access to voters’ personal verification documents (PVCs) so that his government can rig the gubernatorial election scheduled for November 11.

They said it was a Greek gift meant to make their personal ID numbers public for the taking.
According to the PDP statement, “Uzodinma is said to have released the remaining palliatives to Sole Administrators, Commissioners, Special Advisers, and other appointees of his government with stern directive to distribute same to only those with Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) who should be APC members.”
Members of the Labour Party, APGA, SDP, NNPP, PDP, and other political parties cannot vote in Imo elections.
Uzodinma’s administration is too petty and vengeful to have leveraged on the free-will gift to frustrate the Imo people; this is a worrying, criminal, and evil turn of events that goes against the sharing template established by the Federal Government.
It is now beyond reasonable doubt that the APC government in the state diverted over N2 billion from the intervention funds and allocated over 50,000 bags of the contingent to relatives, friends, and well-wishers at the expense of Imo citizens, as evidenced by the actions of Uzodinma and his party leaders.
While other states in the country distribute the palliatives freely and genuinely to indigenes of their states regardless of party affiliations or PVCs, Uzodinma and his aimless administration are using the gift as a weapon to continue to impoverish the people of Imo state.
As a law-abiding organisation, we can say with certainty that Uzodinma and the APC’s current actions in the state lend credence to the allegation that the widespread hunger, famine, and pain suffered by the people of Imo in the present and the past are the result of deliberate orchestration on the part of the APC government in the state.
“While we advise Imo people to reject this Greek gift aimed at exposing their private identification Numbers to scavengers or to exchange their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) with two and half cups of rice from Uzodinma, Imo people are to remain alert that why Uzodinma is struggling to have access to their PVCs is to enable his government to rig the November 11 Governorship election, after it appears to him that the people have abandoned him.”
