Remo Land has taken a decisive step towards self-determination by submitting a memorandum to the National Assembly, formally requesting the creation of Remo State from the existing Ogun State.
This move signifies a shift from the earlier proposal for a Remo-Ijebu State, which did not align with the aspirations of the Remo people, who seek a distinct identity free from ambiguity.
Leading the push for statehood, the Akarigbo and Paramount Ruler of Remo Land, Oba Dr. Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, CFR, alongside key stakeholders, has presented a compelling case, citing Remo Land’s unique economic, cultural, and historical background.

The proposal designates Sagamu as the capital of the new state, highlighting its strategic location, industrial development, and economic significance.
The demand for Remo State underscores the deep-rooted distinctiveness of the Remo people, tracing their ancestral lineage to Ile-Ife.This heritage fuels their unwavering commitment to preserving their cultural identity and advancing their self-governance aspirations.

The submission of the memorandum marks a critical milestone in the quest for Remo State.
As the National Assembly reviews the request, the people of Remo Land remain hopeful for an impartial evaluation, anticipating a favorable response that will finally bring their long-cherished dream to reality.
