To put a stop to the instability in the Southeast, a special House committee has demanded Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), be released immediately and unconditionally.
To curb kidnappings, murders, and acts of banditry in the Isiukwuato and Umunnochi local government areas of Abia State, a committee was formed to liaise with law enforcement.
During Thursday’s meeting, Committee Chairman Obinna Aguocha remarked that the IPOB leader’s release is a potential “magic bullet” for restoring calm to Southeast Asia.

Aguocha said that in order to solve the insecurity in the southeast, the government must investigate the problem’s origins.
He claimed that “unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from unlawful detention to ensure lasting peace and security in the entire region” and “government recognition of the rule of law, justice, and equitable inclusion of the Southeast zone in Project Nigeria” are the first steps toward peace and safety in the region.
After Abia State Commissioner of Police Kenechukwu Onwumelie made his presentation, the committee met with him in private.
