A human rights body, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has concluded an arrangement to picket the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja over what it termed as criminal and unprofessional conduct of the Police Officers attached to the Area “G” Command of the Lagos State Police Command.
It alleged the Team of Police Officers of Area “G” illegally invaded the house of Mr Fatai Abiodun Oyewumi, situated at the N0.6, Ifelodun Street, old Oko-Oba on Wednesday 18th day of October 2023, with the mission to terminate his life untimely, where his daughter and Student of Lagos State University (LASU), Miss Islamiyat was manhandled by the said Police Officers and his wife, Mrs Kikelomo Oyewumi was put on high hypertensive condition with the criminal way of storming the Oyewumi’s residence claiming of looking for their breadwinner.
CHRSJ added that the wife of Mr Fatai Oyewumi, Mrs Kikelomo has been taken to an unknown hospital for serious medical treatment to save her life from untimely death orchestrated by the said Police Officers of cowardness and laziness/lawless Area “G” Police Command and its Commander.

The group further alleged the Area “G” Police Officers through a woman Police planning again to storm the resident of a law-abiding citizen, Mr Fatai Abiodun Oyewumi on Monday to arrest him on a trump-up charge by treating him like a common criminal because of a bribe to be collecting from Mr Oyewumi.
According to the CHRSJ’s Petition Letters dated Friday 29th day of September, Tuesday, 3rd day of October and Wednesday 18th day of October 2023, and signed by group’s Executive Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman which was forwarded to the Inspector General of Police(IGP), the Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), the Assistant Inspector General Of Police(AIG), Alagbon(FCID) Annex, Ikoyi, the Assistant Inspector General Of Police(AIG), Zone-(2), Onikan, the Lagos State Commissioner Of Police and other concern authorities in the country.
The Petition Letter was made available to newsmen on Monday, calling for the outright dismissal of the Police Officers involved in the unprofessional conduct and dangerous attack on Oyewumi’s resident which led to the hospitalized of Mrs Kikelomo Oyewumi on Wednesday, the 18th day of October 2023, till the time of writing this media report.
The Petition further stressed that the Police conspired to continue defrauding the Petitioner (Mr Fatai Oyewumi) by asking for Five Hundred Thousand Naira(N500,000) after the illegal assignors collected the sum of Two Million Naira (N2,000,000) from Mr Oyewumi.
Alleging the Police of offences of a dangerous conspiracy, diabolical plan to attack and disrespect for fundamental human rights, rule of law, due process, diligent investigation, disobedience to Police act and constitution by planning illegal arrest cum detention of Mr Fatai Oyewumi.
It further stressed that the Area “G” Commander has turned himself to the Lagos State Police Commissioner and his office Police woman friend turned herself to the Area Commander, because the State Commissioner of Police failed in his duty to monitor what was happening in the Area “G” Commandunder his Command.
The petition therefore called for outright dismissal of the Area “G” Commander of Area “G” Command of the Lagos State over unprofessional conduct, lawlessness, incompetence, negligence, corruption and nonchalant attitude to duty, also called for “immediate removal” of State Commissioner of Police for dereliction of service, lackadaisical attitude and incompetence.
