The Rivers State Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Solsuema Osaro, has accused the Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Aaron Chukwuemeka, of impersonation.
Osaro, who also chairs the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the state, made this statement in response to Chukwuemeka’s recent visit to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) as the self-acclaimed IPAC state chairman.
Chukwuemeka, along with chairmen from other political parties in the state, including the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha, visited RSIEC to assess the commission’s readiness for the upcoming local government election.
In an interview with the media, Osaro reiterated that he was duly appointed as the state chairman of IPAC by the national leadership after the dissolution of the previous executives led by former PDP chairman, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, in 2023.
Osaro called for Chukwuemeka’s resignation as the state chairman of the PDP, accusing him of misleading the public.
He stated, “I wish to state categorically that Mr. Aaron Chukwuemeka, the acting PDP state chairman, is not the chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council, Rivers State.
I am the recognized IPAC chairman since July 26, 2023, when the national leadership of IPAC appointed me to fill the vacuum that was created upon the dissolution of the state executive of IPAC led by Ambassador Desmond Akawor.”
Osaro also highlighted a letter from the national leadership of IPAC in 2023, confirming his appointment as the new chairman of IPAC in the state and the dissolution of the Akawor-led executives.
The dissolution reportedly occurred after the former executives adopted a single governorship candidate for the March 18, 2023, election.
In conclusion, Osaro emphasized that Chukwuemeka’s actions amounted to impersonation and called for his resignation from the position of PDP state chairman, citing deception of both the party and the public.
