Ronaldinho has left the Indian Premier Futsal league to return to Brazil and undertake a role as ambassador of the 2016 Paralympics.
The Goa star had shone in the tournament alongside former stars such as Hernan Crespo, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, but wrote a letter to his teammates to inform them of his decision to head back to Brazil.
A statement on the official Premier Futsal website read: “The Premier Futsal management is committed to have a long-term association with Ronaldinho and took his request into consideration, before allowing him permission to leave.”
Ronaldinho will be replaced by former Brazil captain Cafu ahead of the Goa leg of the tournament beginning on July 19, with some of the team’s games to be rescheduled as a result.
