Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo has received a public warning from the Saudi Pro League after taking personal grievances too far and going on strike. Recall that CR7 is unhappy at the way transfer funds are distributed in the Middle East, forcing him to sit out Al-Nassr’s last fixture after making himself.
Reminding Ronaldo about how things work in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Pro League insisted that every club within the country will keep operating independently under the same rules.
The league added that no individual player, however significant, determines decisions beyond their own club.
His words, “The Saudi Pro League is structured around a simple principle: every club operates independently under the same rules.
Clubs have their own boards, their own executives and their own football leadership.
Decisions on recruitment, spending and strategy sit with those clubs, within a financial framework designed to ensure sustainability and competitive balance. That framework applies equally across the league.
Cristiano has been fully engaged with Al Nassr since his arrival and has played an important role in the club’s growth and ambition. Like any elite competitor, he wants to win. But no individual – however significant – determines decisions beyond their own club.
Recent transfer activity demonstrates that independence clearly. One club strengthened in a particular way. Another chose a different approach. Those were club decisions, taken within approved financial parameters.
The competitiveness of the league speaks for itself. With only a few points separating the top four, the title race is very much alive. That level of balance reflects a system that is working as intended.
The focus remains on football – on the pitch, where it belongs – and on maintaining a credible, competitive competition for players and fans.”

Ronaldo’s move to Manchester United was completed on 12 August 2003, too late for the 2003 FA Community Shield but in time for their game against Bolton Wanderers on the opening day of the 2003–04 season, and made him the first Portuguese player to sign for the club.
Ahead of the 2009–10 season, Ronaldo joined Real Madrid for a world record transfer fee at the time of £80 million (€94 million). His contract, which ran until 2015, was worth €11 million per year and contained a €1 billion buy-out clause.
