Arise News anchor, Rufai Oseni, has challenged the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to withdraw officers attached to President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, following fresh concerns over the scale of security assigned to him.
The debate resurfaced after Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, raised alarm in a viral video, recounting how he encountered what he described as “a small battalion” of heavily armed operatives escorting Seyi at a hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos.

Soyinka said he was initially confused by the overwhelming presence of security personnel and thought a film was being shot, only to realise they were guarding the president’s son.
Reacting during the Monday edition of the Morning Show on Arise TV, Rufai said President Tinubu’s earlier directive to the Inspector General of Police on the withdrawal of officers from Very Important Persons, VIPs, would not apply to Seyi.
“Them nor born anybody well to remove police protection from Seyi Tinubu,” Rufai declared during the live programme.
At that point, his co-anchor, Reuben Abati, asked him: “Even the IGP, the Inspector General of Police?”
Rufai replied: “Them no born am well.”
President Tinubu had recently ordered the immediate withdrawal of police officers attached to various VIPs across the country as part of reforms aimed at enhancing national security and boosting manpower for general policing.
