Roger Federer is now the Highest-Paid Athlete in the world, according to a recent Forbes list.
Federer edged out Lionel Messi and Cristiano Rinaldo, Neymar, and LeBron James to be number one after earning a total of $106.3 million over the past 12 months, making him the first tennis player to top the list.
According to Forbes’ Senior Editor Kurt Badenhausen, Roger sealed this achievement after the salary cuts that affected footballers like Messi and Ronaldo amid the coronavirus pandemic.
He added that the tennis player is the perfect pitchman for companies and this has led to an increase in his revenue on a yearly basis.
His words, “The coronavirus pandemic triggered salary cuts for soccer stars Messi and Ronaldo, clearing the way for a tennis player to rank as the world’s highest-paid athlete for the first time,”
“Roger Federer is the perfect pitchman for companies, resulting in an unparalleled endorsement portfolio of blue-chip brands worth $100 million a year for the tennis great.”
