Samsung’s Galaxy Note series has been in the news for quite some time now.

Reports in the past have hinted towards the company planning to pull the plug on its flagship smartphone series.

Those rumours seem to have gotten cemented with Samsung introducing SPen support in the Galaxy S21 Ultra smartphone.

Now, Samsung has finally confirmed the fate of its Galaxy Note series smartphones.

During the company’s 52nd annual shareholder’s meeting, co-CEO of Samsung’s IT and Mobile Communications division, DJ Koh; said that it will be difficult for the company to launch the Galaxy Note 21 series smartphones this year owing to a severe shortage of chips.

He also said that the next-generation Galaxy Note series smartphones will arrive in 2022.

“Galaxy Note is an important product category to us that has been continuously loved by consumers for the past 10 years in the global market.

The S Pen user experience is an area that Samsung’s mobile business has worked harder on than anybody else.

Their launch timing may be different, but we will make sure that we don’t let Galaxy Note consumers down;” Koh said (via SamMobile).

In addition to this, Koh said that its business could be affected in the second and third quarters of this year owing to a severe chip shortage.

“There’s a serious imbalance in supply and demand of chips in the IT sector globally. Despite the difficult environment; our business leaders are meeting partners overseas to solve these problems. It’s hard to say the shortage issue has been solved 100 percent,” he said.
