Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has underscored the importance of accurate data and measurable outcomes in achieving effective governance and enhancing the operational efficiency of political party structures.
Speaking at the official flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) South-West E-Membership Registration Hands-on Device/Application Programme, themed “Train-the-Trainer,” held on Tuesday at Lagos House, Marina, the governor said data-driven decision-making is essential for both political and developmental progress.
Represented by his deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu stressed that sustainable growth in governance and politics depends on credible data management and regular evaluation.
“Whatever cannot be measured cannot be managed,” the governor said, noting that the APC must establish a comprehensive and reliable membership database to strengthen internal communication, deepen engagement, and enhance readiness ahead of elections.
“As a political party, we must be able to measure our members. That’s the only way we can manage effectively. We need to know who our members are, where they are, and how they feel about governance. It shouldn’t only be during elections that we begin to scramble for information,” he added.
Sanwo-Olu also highlighted the need for continuous, two-way communication between government and citizens, noting that accurate data collection would enable the APC to better understand members’ needs and gauge public sentiment.
Reaffirming Lagos State’s commitment to transparency, efficient data management, and people-centered governance, the governor urged participants to strengthen the party’s digital infrastructure to sustain its record of electoral victories.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for introducing what he described as “tough but necessary” economic and petroleum sector reforms, saying the policies are beginning to yield visible results.
Sanwo-Olu further called on APC members to continue supporting and defending the administration’s reform agenda, assuring that the ongoing measures will deliver sustainable growth and long-term benefits for Nigerians.
