Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged unwavering support for all All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates contesting in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for July 12.
The governor made this commitment on Tuesday during the official flag-off of the APC’s campaign at the party’s state secretariat in Ogba, Lagos. Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, reaffirmed his administration’s determination to secure a comprehensive victory for the party at the polls.
As part of the event, party flags were formally presented to 57 chairmanship and 376 councillorship candidates vying for various positions across the state under the APC platform.
Addressing party members, Sanwo-Olu said:
“The love I have for this party is unquantifiable. I am with all the candidates. This is not just an official flag-off; it symbolizes the beginning of hard work and dedication.
“We are solidly behind every aspirant. We are in this together, and all will be successful by God’s grace.
“As we raise these flags today, we are proud and happy. Let us remember our values and principles—we are known for being a progressive movement.
“We are not only here to win an election but to change the lives of our people and continue the legacy of our President. We must deliver on all our promises. Do all you can as party faithful to ensure victory for the APC.”
Also speaking at the event, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Chairman of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), urged the party’s flagbearers to prioritize service delivery if elected.
“Youths should step up now and do the work of the party because, at the moment, you are not yet at the forefront.
“This is an opportunity to promote the name and integrity of our party. Sadly, many in politics today seek wealth rather than service.
“The love for our community and society must be our driving force. Those who contested but did not get the ticket should remain patient; there is still time and opportunity ahead,” Olusi advised.
He further encouraged youth members to form grassroots mobilisation groups and canvass support across all parts of Lagos to ensure victory for the APC.
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, also emphasized party unity and loyalty, urging members to respect the party’s choices.
“The party is supreme; we must stand by its decisions. We must obey the party and support all our candidates without division.
“This election is a preparatory ground to ensure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 with a resounding victory,” Obasa stated.
