The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has dismissed rumors claiming that its candidate, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka, has withdrawn his case from the election petition tribunal challenging the outcome of the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had previously declared Ahmed Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election after securing the highest votes among other contestants.
Reacting to reports suggesting that the SDP had conceded defeat and would no longer challenge the APC victory in court, the Director of New Media, Muri/Sam Campaign Council/SDP, Isaiah Davies Ijele, labeled the information as false and urged supporters to disregard it.

In a statement released to journalists on Wednesday, Ijele stated that those spreading the information are either speaking from a position of delusional rage or hallucinogenic depression.
He asserted, “This is to inform our teaming supporters that Murtala Ajaka and the Social Democratic Party will not succumb to any pressure to stand down the case at the tribunal.
Our team of solicitors are up to their game and only waiting for the commencement of the court sitting within the window as provided by law for fillings and counter fillings, etc.”
Ijele further urged party faithful and supporters of Alhaji Murtala Ajaka to dismiss such rumors from “failed politicians who could not prove their capacities and love for humanity when in power.”
