The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has dissolved its State Working Committee in Kogi State. This decision was detailed in a letter signed by SDP National Chairman Alhaji Shehu Gabam and Secretary Dr. Olu Agunloye, dated July 22, 2024.
The letter stated: “This is to officially inform your office that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party has received and considered reports on the activities and developments of the Kogi State Chapter and has, accordingly, dissolved the Kogi State Working Committee in line with the 2022 Constitution of the Party as amended.
“Consequently, the National Working Committee has therefore approved the constitution of a Caretaker Committee for the State Chapter.

“The tenure of the caretaker committee shall be 90 days or as the NWC may determine and this appointment shall take immediate effect.
“The INEC Chairman is hereby formally informed that the Kogi State Working Committee has been dissolved and replaced with a Caretaker Committee.”
The Deputy Governorship candidate in the November 2023 election in Kogi State, Chief Sam Ranti Abenemi, has been appointed as the Caretaker Chairman.
Other appointees include Alhaji Sheik Ibrahim Jibril as Secretary, with Alhaji Jimoh Muhammed, Alhaji Isah Abudikarim, Mrs. Rabi Emaiku, Mr. Fehint Dada, and Alhaji Abubakar Kamar serving as members of the Caretaker Committee.
The letter added that the National Working Committee will soon conduct a fresh Congress in Kogi State to elect a new State Working Committee.
