President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded the names of 32 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation, days after submitting an earlier batch of three names.
The president’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
According to Onanuga, the nominations were transmitted in two separate letters addressed to the President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio.

The letters comprise 15 nominees designated as career ambassadors and 17 as non-career ambassadors.
Onanuga noted that the career ambassadorial list includes four women, while the non-career list contains six women.
Among the non-career nominees are Mahmud Yakubu and a former presidential aide, Ogbonnaya Kalu.
Others listed include former Enugu State governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; ex-aviation minister, Femi Fani‑Kayode; and one-time Lagos State deputy governor, Otunba Femi Pedro.
On the career nominees’ list is a former ambassador to the Holy See, Paul Oga Adikwu, as well as ex-senator, Prof. Nora Ladi Daduut.
The presidency said nominees will be posted to countries including China and United Arab Emirates, alongside global missions such as the United Nations and UNESCO after Senate confirmation.
The president had previously submitted three nominees—Amb. Ayodele Oke, Amb. Amin Dalhatu and Col. Lateef Kayode Are (Rtd)—for possible posting to the United Kingdom or France after confirmation.
In his statement, Onanuga quoted the president as confirming that more nominees for ambassadorial positions “will be announced soon.”
The Senate is expected to begin screening and confirmation sessions in the coming legislative sittings.
