Luxembourg, 22 May 2014 SES Broadband Services today announced a new partnership with Meanswhat to deliver satellite communications for multi-national enterprises and Governmental Agencies with branch offices or production facilities in remote areas.
Giving the same performance as at an organization’s headquarters, the solution allows remote offices to connect with legacy ERP systems and on-the-cloud data centers by integrating satellite communication with virtualization techniques based on Citrix® XenApp™ or Citrix® XenDesktop.
The SES Broadband Services and Meanswhat solution addresses the stringent bandwidth requirements which many applications have, as well as issues associated with high latency. It delivers high-end Quality of Service, compression, caching, traffic shaping and security mechanisms within one fully integrated platform.
SES Broadband Services and Meanswhat will commercialize the service utilizing Newtec’s MDM2200 and MDM3100 IP satellite modems.
“With this partnership we expand our presence to address the convergent requirements of cloud computing, including virtualization, grid computing and service-oriented architectures,” said Patrick Biewer, Managing Director of SES Broadband Services. “This solution is perfect for enterprises which face a constant challenge to allow remote connectivity and business continuity between dispersed offices in Sub-saharan Africa.”
“We are extremely pleased to be cooperating with SES Broadband Services to launch this innovative service which improves the performance of satellite WANs for latency critical applications in Sub-Saharan Africa,” added Axel Daiber, Chief Operations Officer at Meanswhat.
